Psalms ◦ Chapter 54

1Heal me, O God, by your character of love;
defend me by your power.

2Listen to me, O God;
take special note of what I say.

3Villains are attacking me;
cruel people are trying to kill me —
selfish people who care nothing for God.

4But look! God is here and he is my helper;
the Lord is the one who sustains my life.

5Those who plot evil for me will reap the evil they have sown;
the truth is that they will be cut off from life.

6I freely sacrifice myself for you;
I will reveal your character of love, O Lord,
for it is good.

7For you have set me free from all that enslaved me,
and I now understand my true enemy.
