Psalms  ◦   Chapter 127

1Unless the Lord builds the house,
it will not stand.
Unless the Lord governs a city,
it will collapse into ruin.

2It is useless to wake up worried,
to fret late into the night,
to be anxious at every meal —
for God provides for his loved ones even while they sleep.

3The heritage designed by God are children —
the reward of giving birth.

4Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children in a growing family.

5Happy are the parents
whose quiver is full of them,
for they will not be defeated
when they contend with their enemies at the gate.
