Psalms  ◦   Chapter 142

1I call out to the Lord for help;
I cry out to the Lord for his gracious intervention.

2I tell him what I need;
I pour before him by troubles.

3When I am exhausted and ready to give up,
you know exactly what I need to do.
Throughout my journey in life
people have laid traps for me.

4When I look around me,
there is no friend to help me
and no one to protect me —
no one cares about me.

5I call to you, O Lord;
I say, "You are my friend —
you are all I truly need in this life."

6Respond to my cry,
for I am so very discouraged;
rescue me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me.

7Set me free from my prison of fear and discouragement,
that I may celebrate your character of love.
Then the spiritually healthy will be my friends,
because you have healed my heart.
