Psalms  ◦   Chapter 41

1Happy and spiritually-healthy are those who care for the helpless;
in the time of trouble, the Lord will deliver them.

2The Lord will preserve their individuality and give them eternal life;
they will live and be happy upon the earth.
The Lord will not give them up to die from selfishness — their enemy.

3He will provide remedy to their sin-sickness
and restore them back to his perfect design.

4I said, "O Lord, pour your grace upon me;
heal and restore me, for I have gone against your design for life."

5My enemies voice their selfish hate toward me:
they say, "When will he finally die and be forgotten?"

6When one of them comes to visit me,
they pretend to be my friend
but secretly seek something to twist and misrepresent;
then they go out and spread their false accusations abroad.

7All who hate me connive together, whispering their lies about me;
they construe things about me in the worst way possible.

8They say, "He is putrid with sin and selfishness;
he will not rise again from where he lies."

9Even my close and trusted friend who shares my bread
lifts up his heel against me.

10But you, O Lord, pour your life-giving power upon me;
raise me up, that I may be perfectly whole to offer them remedy.

11I know that you are pleased with me,
because my enemy — death — has not triumphed over me.

12You accept and receive me because I am blameless;
you establish me in your presence forever.

13Thanksgiving and adoration to the Creator, the God of those who prevail,
from everlasting to everlasting —
so let it always be!
