Thankfulness and Your Health
Happy Thanksgiving! Here in the U.S. we celebrate our annual Thanksgiving holiday on the 4th Thursday of November. Thanksgiving is a traditional harvest festival, which has its American roots in Plymouth Massachusetts, when the Pilgrims and local native Indians gave thanks in 1621.

Christmas & The Christian
Since the season is fast approaching I was wondering if you could give some insights on the topic of Christians and Christmas. I have heard arguments on both sides, and both seem convincing. Those who are against it point to the pagan roots of Christmas, and those who are for it point to the benefits of Christmas in reaching souls for Christ. So how does one find balance?

Competitive Sports – Spiritually Healthy or Not?
I would like Dr J to discuss competitive sports and whether this is healthy for psychological/spiritual growth. The more I learn about the two conflicting powers (selfless love vs. survival of the fittest) seems competitive sports would not be spiritually healthy. Seems like winning would tempt one to be proud while losing would be damaging to self esteem.

Lazarus, Miracles and Faith What is the Connection?
In John 11, we read the story of Lazarus being raised from the dead. Mary, Martha and the disciples didn’t believe that God could raise him up. Even when Jesus asked them to open the grave, they said “but lord he stinketh, he has been dead four days”. Jesus raised him from the dead in spite of their unbelief. But in the bible it says that we must have faith for God to work miracles. What made Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead?

Premarital Sex – Should I Stop When I Come To Christ?
I have been dating a colleague of mine for almost two years now and as neither of us were devoted to living like Christ, until a few months ago, we have been engaging in premarital sex. Now I am well aware of the traditional Christian views about premarital sex and how it is considered wrong.

Manicures and Spas: Should I Feel Guilty
I know that we should wisely spend our money, but I have a question for you: Is it right to spend money on things for ourselves that we don’t necessarily need?

The Wedding Ring: To Wear or Not To Wear
Is it wrong to wear a wedding ring? My husband and I used to wear our wedding rings, but later took them off because of [statements from church founders] that church members had pointed out to us.

God’s Will Be Done – How Do We Relate?
I would like to know your thoughts in James 4:13-15. To me it seems superstitious when Christians qualify every day, ordinary appointments with a “God willing” or “God spares life.”

Addictions – Does Conversion Heal the Brain?
If there are pathways in our nervous system laid down with addiction, are they destroyed at conversion. or as we walk on a daily basis with CHRIST, or are they always there? In other word once an addict always an addict?

Circumcision & Feast Days Should We Do It Today?
“As Adventists, our principle is that we base our doctrine on God’s Word and not human opinion or human authority – right? Some would say we keep the Sabbath because God commanded it and never withdrew that command. That is only reasonable if we are consistent in applying the criterion. Yet we have dropped many others of God’s statutes without His say-so!

Why is Jesus Death Necessary for God to Heal Me?
If God’s position is that sin is a condition that makes us humans out of harmony with His law of love, then it’s not clear to me why it was […]
