So, if breaking the law of Love leads as a natural consequence to death and if the wages of sin is death, then why is Satan still alive? It seems that there is no hope for him anymore, so is God’s spirit still intervening for him, keeping him alive?
Thank you for taking the time to read this and perhaps responding to this question. Kind regards, T
You are correct there is no hope for Satan’s salvation anymore, not because God wouldn’t want Satan saved, but because Satan has passed the point of responding to truth and love. You are also correct that Satan continues to derive his life from God. All life comes from God, no living thing has life inherently within itself.
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:16,17
God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal 1Timothy 6:15,16
God alone has original, unborrowed life. It is from God that all things are created and continue to “hold together”. Satan will one day die when God no longer prevents Satan from reaping what he has chosen. Why has Satan’s existence been allowed to continue?
Revelation states:
And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. Revelation 12:7
What kind of war was this? What was being fought over? What were the weapons being used? The Greek word translated war is polemos from which we get “politics” and “political.” This was a war of words, ideas, concepts just like the war between two political camps. And what was the central issue in the war?
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2Corinthians 10:3-5
The war was over the very trustworthiness of God Himself. Satan lied about God! What would have happened in the minds of the angelic host if God would have allowed Satan to die before Satan’s lies could have been exposed? The angels would have thought Satan was right, that God cannot be trusted, that God kills those who don’t agree with Him, and love would have been destroyed and Satan’s infection of fear and selfishness would have spread further throughout God’s creation. This will not be the case when Satan and all his followers die in the end as the entire universe will know that God is love and completely trustworthy.
