For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Have you contemplated this verse recently? Have you considered the profound meaning revealed? Who was this child given to us? What is the significance? When you think of the Wonderful Counselor, who comes to mind?

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you… When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.  John 14:26, 15:26

When you think of Mighty God, Everlasting Father who comes to mind?

Jesus said,

But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God. Luke 22:69

When you think of the child who was given us, that baby born in Bethlehem, do you think of the Holy Spirit, do you think of the Father?

God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself.  2Cor 5:19

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, `Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. John 14:8-10

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.  John 17:20-23

Who was this baby? Jesus Christ, our Savior, the child born 2000 years ago.  He was the fullness of the Godhead downloaded into human form so that we could hear, see, touch, and know our Creator God. Jesus is not merely God’s Son, He is God’s mind made audible and visible to us! Look to Jesus, meditate upon Jesus, because Jesus is the lens through which we see God!

Merry Christmas!
