Thanksgiving and Blessings for Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine

For the past seven months, I have been privileged to serve as the inaugural Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavior Health at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM). I was recruited to that position to assist the university in establishing a Christian psychiatry residency program that meets board-certification requirements. Unfortunately, due to forces beyond the university’s control, infrastructure problems (not having access to an inpatient psychiatric unit) prevented the immediate build out of that program. Therefore, it was mutually decided that my position was not needed at this time.

While I am saddened that we could not immediately move forward with this joint vision, I am thankful for my time and experience and for the new friends I have made while at LUCOM. So I want to publicly thank LUCOM and pray for God’s blessing on the team there as they continue to “Train Champions for Christ” and seek to one day establish a Christian psychiatry residency program.

  • Joseph Johnson, Dean of LUCOM: Thank you for your Christlike leadership, faith, and commitment to advancing God’s kingdom through medical education. I admire and respect all you are doing. I pray for God’s blessing on your health and the fulfillment of God’s purposes for your life.

I have been following your Bible study class for about a year now. I must say I am impressed with how your ministry has grown. I took it upon myself to listen to all your lesson podcasts from the past and they have both enriched me physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I have learnt a lot from this class. I grew up in a prominent protestant church and had what I like to call religious anxiety. I’ve always had questions about God and Salvation that no one could seem to answer.  I didn’t know how to find resolution. During 2020, at the height of my anxiety, I fell to my knees and begged God to show me truth and light and to give me the hope that I’ve been longing for. Days later, I stumbled upon your online videos and it was like a veil was lifted and EVERYTHING made sense!
