Faith to Triumph Over Every Fear

Faith to Triumph Over Every Fear

Are you struggling with fear—fear of disease, of losing a loved one, of rejection, of financial ruin, of persecution, of losing your job, of loneliness, of letting God down, of climate change, of war, of economic collapse?

Have you become discouraged from the media’s never-ending bombardment of fear messaging? Are you looking for a solution, for peace, for security?

Then, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart” (Hebrews 12:2, 3 NIV84, emphasis mine).

Jesus came to Earth, revealed God’s love to us, overcame every temptation, and despite being tortured to death, He would not turn back, would not give up, would not quit—but for the joy of saving you and me, He stayed the course, overcame the pain, resisted the taunts, despised the shame, and triumphed over every obstacle to reach us with God’s love and saving grace!

And Satan hates Jesus—and he also hates what our Savior has accomplished. Because Satan can no longer attack Jesus, he now attacks those whom Jesus loves—you and me.

Satan is described as a roaring lion prowling around looking for people to devour (1 Peter 5:8). And what does a lion’s roar do? It incites fear—and fear causes us to freeze, to stop thinking, to run and hide, or to fight. All this is Satan’s goal. Our ancient enemy wants to get us to stop thinking, stop reasoning, stop living out God’s methods of truth love and liberty and to become mindless pawns who will embrace Satan’s methods and do whatever we are told just to be “safe,” even if that requires we violate God’s will and standards; or Satan seeks to incite fear to cause us to run and hide, to close our churches, stop our ministries, cease our fellowship; or deal with the fear by embracing his methods and fighting with his weapons of lies, coercion, violence, and force—all designed to make us feel in control, powerful, and safe.

But we can never find true safety in sin, in selfishness, in practicing Satan’s methods. We will never find real security in this world because Jesus’ kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36). And even “though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:3–5 NIV84). We find safety only in Jesus, and as His people, we advance His cause only by wielding the weapons of God—truth, love, and liberty—the truth about God, presented in love, while leaving others free. We seek to win hearts and minds, not force behavior.

The only way we do this is by keeping our eyes focused on Christ. We must stop focusing on the world’s propaganda, the pervasive “panic porn,” the corruption of this world. We must remember that “God has said:

‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’” (Hebrews 13:5, 6 NIV84).

Throughout all human history, Satan has been attacking the people of God, but God’s faithful have triumphed over all the devil’s schemes. Hebrews chapter eleven reviews the history of some of God’s faithful: Abel, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Moses, and many more. They all suffered, yet they kept their eyes focused on Jesus—and they were not overcome! They knew a better land awaited them:

All of these people were living in trust, confident in God when they died. They did not receive all the things promised, but they understood them in their minds and rejoiced in their reality. And they openly acknowledged that they were strangers and aliens, and not part of this selfish earth. They were making it plainly known that they wanted a different land—a land of their own. And they didn’t want the land they had left, for they could have easily returned from where they had come. No! They were longing for a better country—a land free from selfishness, disease, death, crime and exploitation, where guards, police and security are no longer needed—they were longing for heaven. Therefore God is honored to be known as their God (for they value his methods of love, truth, and freedom) and he has prepared an eternal home for them. … All these people were commended for their trust in God, yet none of them received the fulfillment of all that was promised. But don’t get discouraged, for God has planned something much better for us: They and we together will be perfectly healed, and will rejoice together in the earth made new (Hebrews 11:13–16, 39, 40 The Remedy New Testament Paraphrase).

Today is our opportunity to join God’s faithful from all human history. When the enemy of God roars, when the fear is almost overwhelming, when the world’s solutions offer no hope, it is then that we must stop running and stand firm in our faith, lift up our eyes, and fix our minds upon Jesus—trusting Him with our lives, our fortunes, our families, and our futures, resisting the pull of this world; saying no to hate, no to revenge, no to violence; and allowing the love of God to cast out all our fear. It is then that we must live out what Jesus commanded: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you” so that we will be fully healed sons and daughters of our Father in heaven (Luke 6:27, 28 NIV84; Matthew 5:43–45).

Yes, fear messaging is everywhere in this world—but our Savior has overcome the world. When the fear seems overwhelming, don’t trust the powers of this world; instead, trust Jesus and live out His methods in every choice you make!

Your teachings about our heavenly Father have changed my life. Thank you sooooooo very very much! I know He’s doing some serious healing in my heart and life and I look forward to each new day to learn something new about Him and to just hear you speak about Him. Thank you, forever.

I am blown away by the truth that you present. God’s Design Law makes so much sense! You have validated my impression that, if God is love, He would not kill those who don’t want to know him. If God gives us choice, then how can He destroy us if our choice is not to follow him. Thank you for opening my eyes and heart to the pure love of God seen through Jesus. The love I now have for Jesus is deeper and free from condemnation. My heart has been opened to love others as Jesus loves me. May God continue to bless your God-given insight into His word and your ministry. The truth has set me free!

I really enjoy with you the view of a gracious God. Thank you for sharing the work you are allowing the Lord to do in you.

God lead me to your book “The God-Shaped Brain” while I was searching for another book about the brain and then to your interview about your book on HeartWise Ministries [where] I found out about [Come And Reason Ministries]. I’m now devouring the webcasts of your Bible studies. I have been so greatly blessed and I thank God so much for your courage to speak the Truth in love no matter what. Listening to you contrast the two opposing systems (laws) and digging deep to unearth the hidden treasures in the Bible makes me so incredibly happy and I feel very blessed to be part of your Bible Study Group although I live far away. I am just so excited that there is a group of people that is spreading the Truth about the character of God and it saddens me how few realize what our Father in Heaven is really like.

I borrowed “Healing The Mind” DVDs from a friend and showed them at my home for a small gathering of women friends. Neither of my friends are Adventist, but they both enjoyed and embraced the messages you taught. In fact, one of the ladies prayed out loud in our group and that was the first time she had ever had public prayer.

Testimony 71

When I was 9 years old, I remember setting at our devotional table with a hunger and thirst for God that wanted more, deeper, BETTER. I can remember literally crying and pounding on the table, “I know these teachers didn’t mean to give us error. They taught what THEY had been TAUGHT, but didn’t ANYBODY READ THE BOOK?!?!?” It mattered to me then. It mattered to me as a teenager. It matters now as I teach bible classes. It didn’t have to be so hard as I watched so many give up and lay God’s great plan and gift of salvation aside as being “impossible.” Then, a friend sent me a link to Come And Reason’s website. I grew excited. YES! FINALLY! Then another friend told me to stay away, saying her son had just broken up with a girl because she was involved with Come And Reason and that “Tim Jennings preaches a false gospel.” But, AFTER many years of developing an authentic and, dare I say FUN relationship with Jesus, through the Holy Spirit I see this message has been around a LONG time, since the apostle Paul, Ellen White, Graham Maxwell, Ray Foucher, and yourself (though I admit, you’ve made me back up, rewind and replay the clips, and get out my well-worn Bible on a few things.) I’m so thankful I have found LIGHT during these DARK days. I am not alone.

Testimony 64

I’ve been reading the bible and walking with Jesus since I was around 16. I’m 42 now. I’ve mostly been alone in my walk although I went to several churches in different denominations. For the past 3 years God has been showing me His character of agape. It’s been a blessing and changed how I view God and my walk with Jesus. About a year ago I came across the power of love and the principles of design law. These teachings changed how I read scripture and have been such a beautiful blessing. I’m very excited and grateful for these truths. We share these truths of agape, design law and the reality of the principles of the two trees in the garden of Eden with people on Facebook and YouTube. People all over are learning to trust God and His agape design law which makes life possible. Thank you for everything you shared with me. May God continue to bless your ministry and lives.

Testimony 49

I came into the church at 21, but that is as far as it went. I was so confused about what love is. I couldn’t find it in the bible, because I am not a person that can read between the lines. I have no logic. I have read many, many books; trying to figure out the crux of the matter. They were helpful, but something was still missing. I have become very frustrated to the point of crying out to God, “Where can I go?”  I needed some basics.

I found two books, written by Timothy Jennings, MD, to be very helpful. God showed me that I had lived my whole life in fear. I didn’t even see it. Now, I do. God is so good.  I discovered the “The Remedy”  Dr. Jennings new book, “The God-Shaped Heart!” Oh, I was so excited, I purchased them right away.

I can get rid of most of my books, because “The Remedy” brings the Love of God out so clearly, even I can’t miss it. Now, I want to sit and read my Bible. Wow, what a revelation! It is just simply Awesome! I am so grateful to Jehovah Almighty for hearing my prayer for more understanding! I am so encouraged!

We really appreciate your views on the judgment and they make good sense considering our free choice.

We were given a gift of the DVD set, “God and Your Brain,” and we just finished watching it. The truths in this are so powerful and truly an answer to a prayer. We’re seeing hope where once we thought God wasn’t answering our prayers to be free of certain mindsets. He answered with these DVDs and we are hungry for more. Thank you!

I got the book “Could It Be This Simple?” a few months ago and the reading was wonderful and I was fascinated. I lent the book to a friend at work. She is having a difficult time and the book is helping her to find Jesus and I found this very exciting. She has asked me questions and I can see her life changing.

Your message of design law vs imperial law is so uplifting and makes so much sense- it is a game changer for me. The fact that Jesus’s death is not a big payment by an angry God is , quite frankly, a relief.

The message [of Come And Reason Ministries is] for all Christians (and those who may become Christians) and not just Adventists or any other group. It is difficult to imagine why any [anyone] with intellectual and spiritual honesty could find fault with the way you explained the healing substitution concepts and the truth about God’s character, though I know some will reject and criticize. On behalf of those in our group near Tacoma, WA, thank you and your staff for all of the hard work and for sharing the Gospel in this manner. God’s message of healing love will be carried to the whole world and then Jesus will come – He promised it.

My husband is a pastor and I listen to your lesson almost every week. Thank you for helping me in my study life and to help me love the “real” God more.

Just watched watched lesson 10 in the 1st quarter 2021 bible study classs on Isaiah. I want to thank you for your intellectual spirituality; it’s not an oxymoron! From the point of view of a teacher I also enjoy seeing how much personal pleasure you clearly take in not just tasting, but feasting on God’s word – it reminds me of Jeremiah not being able to hold it in! It makes me smile that your cup is so full and overflowing that you make it to Tuesday’s lesson (on a good day). It just goes to show the richness of God’s Word.

God bless the Come and Reason Team from our church here in Great Britain.
