GOD SE TOORN TEENOOR SATAN SE TOORN – WAT IS DIE VERSKIL?

In die boek Openbaring vertel Jesus vir ons die volgende:

Daarom, wees bly, o hemele en wat daarin woon. Wee die bewoners van die aarde en die see! want die duiwel het na julle neergedaal met groot toorn, omdat hy weet dat hy min tyd het (12:12 CAB23, beklemtoning myne).

Die Bybel praat ook op baie plekke van God se toorn (Romeine 1:18). Dit laat ‘n verskeidenheid vrae ontstaan:

  • Is daar ‘n verskil tussen Satan se toorn en God se toorn?
  • Verstaan ons toorn as funksioneel dieselfde, ongeag wie die agent van daardie toorn is?
  • Sien ons dat God en Satan op soortgelyke maniere optree, soortgelyke magte gebruik en soortgelyke uitkomste veroorsaak?
  • Onderskei ons God se toorn en Satan se toorn slegs deur beweegrede – byvoorbeeld om te sê dat God in geregtigheid optree terwyl Satan in selfsug optree, maar hulle albei gebruik mag om skade aan te rig?

Daar is beslis een ooreenkoms, en dit is die gevolg wanneer mense nie beskerm of verlos word van Satan of God se toorn nie. Die gevolg van die ervaring van die volle toorn van enige van die wesens is sleg, nie goed nie.

Maar beteken die gevolg van onbeheerste toorn van God of Satan dat Satan se toorn en God se toorn verskynsels van dieselfde krag, metodes en dade is? Beslis nie! Trouens, die toorn van God en dié van Satan is presies teenoorgesteldes. God se toorn funksioneer presies die teenoorgestelde van hoe Satan se toorn funksioneer, en ons kan dit slegs verstaan as ons die werklikheid verstaan, naamlik om God se ontwerpwet te verstaan.

‘N SKEPSEL SE TOORN

As ons die wêreld deur Satan se regeringstelsel beskou, dié van ‘n skepsel wat nie die werklikheid kan skep nie, maar in plaas daarvan reëls opmaak wat deur eksterne strawwe afgedwing word, dan verstaan ons toorn as die gebruik van mag om te straf – om skade aan te rig aan diegene op wie ‘n mens toornig is. Dit is Satan se toorn, en kom te voorskyn as gevolg van sataniese mag.

Dwarsdeur die mensegeskiedenis het God ons beskerm teen Satan se toorn, sy bose gebruik van mag. God het die vier winde van twis teruggehou (Openbaring 7:1); Hy het oorlog gevoer teen Satan en die owerhede van die duisternis (Openbaring 12:7; Kolossense 2:15); en Hy het engele leërs gestuur om ons te beskerm (2 Konings 6:17-20). Ons sien dit gebeur regdeur die Skrif.

Satan se toorn is die gebruik van mag om skade te berokken!

Maar God se toorn is die teenoorgestelde – dit is wanneer Hy ophou om krag te gebruik om ons te beskerm. God is die Skepper, die bouer van die werklikheid wie se wette die patroon van gesondheid en lewe is. Die oortreding van Sy wette veroorsaak ons direk skade, en God, in harmonie met Sy karakter van liefde, moet Sy krag, Sy energie, Sy hulpbronne gebruik om die skade wat voortspruit uit die oortreding van Sy ontwerpwette in toom te hou en om die genesende oplossing te gee. Terwyl Satan krag gebruik om seer te maak, gebruik God krag om te genees, te herstel, te herskep, te vernuwe en te herbou.

God se toorn vind plaas wanneer Hy die keuses van opstandige mense respekteer en hulle gee waarop hulle aangedring het – vryheid van Hom, Sy ontwerpwette vir die lewe en Sy barmhartige genesende krag en teenwoordigheid.

Dus, terwyl dit waar is dat beide God se toorn en Satan se toorn skade aan ons berokken, is slegs Satan se toorn die aktiewe gebruik van energie en krag om skade aan te rig, terwyl God se toorn die staking van die gebruik van mag is wat die skade voorkom het.

Dit is presies wat Paulus in Romeine beskryf:

Want die toorn van God word uit die hemel geopenbaar oor al die goddeloosheid en ongeregtigheid van die mense wat die waarheid deur hulle goddeloosheid onderdruk, omdat wat van God geken kan word, in hulle openbaar is, omdat God dit vir hulle duidelik gemaak het. Want sedert die skepping van die wêreld is God se onsigbare eienskappe – sy ewige krag en goddelike natuur – duidelik gesien, verstaan uit wat gemaak is, sodat mense sonder verskoning is (1:18-20 NIV 84).

Paulus gaan dan voort om drie keer eksplisiet te sê en met uitkomsgebaseerde bewyse te beskryf dat God se toorn is om mense te laat gaan om te maai wat hulle gekies het wanneer hulle wegbreek van Sy beskermende sorg. In verse 24, 26 en 28 sê Paulus dat God hulle prysgegee het, of hulle laat gaan, of hulle oorgegee het aan dit waarop hulle aangedring het – en die enigste uitkoms van wegbreek van die Skepper en Onderhouer van lewe en gesondheid is ondergang en dood.

Die wetenskaplike kommentaar Hard Sayings of the Bible, uitgegee deur Intervarsity Press, verduidelik hierdie verse pragtig:

In ‘n sekere sin is God se toorn ingebou in die struktuur van die geskape werklikheid. Deur God se struktuur te verwerp en ons eie te vestig, deur God se bedoeling vir die skepping te skend en ons eie bedoelings te vervang, veroorsaak ons ons eie ondergang.

Die menslike toestand, wat Paulus in Romeine 1:18-32 beskryf, is nie iets wat deur God veroorsaak word nie. Die frase “geopenbaar uit die hemel” (waar “hemel” ‘n tipiese Joodse plaasvervangerwoord vir “God” is) beeld nie een of ander soort goddelike ingryping uit nie, maar eerder die onvermydelikheid van menslike vernedering wat voortspruit wanneer God se wil, ingebou in die geskape orde, geskend word. Aangesien die geskape orde sy oorsprong in God het, kan Paulus sê dat die toorn van God nou (voortdurend) “uit die hemel” geopenbaar word. Dit word geopenbaar in die feit dat die verwerping van God se waarheid (Rom 1:18-20), dit wil sê die waarheid oor God se natuur en wil, lei tot nuttelose denke (Rom 1:21-22), afgodery (Rom 1:23), verdraaiing van God-bedoelde seksualiteit (Rom 1:24-27) en relasioneel-morele gebrokenheid (Rom 1:28-32).

Die uitdrukking “God het hulle oorgegee”, wat drie keer in hierdie gedeelte voorkom (Rom 1:24, 26, 28), ondersteun die idee dat die sondige verdraaiing van die menslike bestaan, hoewel dit voortspruit uit menslike besluite, uiteindelik verstaan moet word as God se straf wat ons in vryheid oor onsself bring.

In die lig van hierdie oorwegings kan die algemene idee dat God straf of seën in direkte verhouding tot ons sondige of goeie dade nie gehandhaaf word nie. … God het ons lief met ‘n ewige liefde. Maar die verwerping van daardie liefde skei ons van die lewegewende krag daarvan. Die gevolg is verbrokkeling en dood (bl. 543).

God is die God van die werklikheid – en Sy toorn is presies die teenoorgestelde van Satan s’n; tog glo biljoene mense ongelukkig dat God se toorn funksioneel nie anders is as Satan s’n nie. Biljoene is gelei om te glo dat God se toorn is wanneer Hy Sy krag gebruik om pyn, lyding en marteling aan Sy kinders toe te dien. Dit is ‘n leuen! En hierdie leuen is die vrug, die onvermydelike gevolg, van die geloof in ‘n ander leuen – dat God se wet soos menslike wet funksioneer; dit wil sê opgelegde reëls. As ‘n mens glo dat enige deel van God se wet soos menslike wette is, opgemaakte reëls, dan glo ‘n mens altyd dat God mag moet gebruik om straf op te lê vir reëloortreding, want as daar geen straf in hierdie kunsmatige stelsel is nie, dan is daar geen “geregtigheid” nie.

Maar God roep mense op om hierdie leuen te verwerp, om op te hou om ander te leer dat Hy soos ‘n skepsel funksioneer, en om terug te keer na die aanbidding van Hom as Skepper – die Een wat die werklikheid tot stand bring en wie se wette ontwerpwette is waarop die hele werklikheid funksioneer.

Dit is die boodskap vir hierdie tyd in die geskiedenis. Dit is die laaste boodskap wat na die wêreld moet gaan. As jy nog nie ons tydskrif Die Drie Engele – Die Finale Boodskap Van Genade Aan Die Wêreld gelees het nie, moedig ek jou aan om dit te doen. Dit beskryf presies wat die ewige evangelie is, onderskei die vier oordele, beskryf God se toorn en plaas dit alles in die werklike realiteit, die omgewing van God se ontwerpwet waarhede.

As ons ‘n skepsel in plaas van die Skepper aanbid, wat ons doen wanneer ons die leuen aanvaar dat God se wet soos menslike wet funksioneer, dan word ons deur die wet van aanbidding soos daardie valse god en merk onsself dierlik. As ons weier om die keiserlike regstelsels van hierdie wêreld, verteenwoordig deur Babilon met sy verwarrende, sataniese regstelsel, te verlaat, dan ervaar ons God se toorn, dit wat gebeur wanneer Hy ons vry laat om te ervaar waarop ons aandring. En wanneer God ophou beskerm, is die resultaat ‘n verskriklike, aaklige uitkoms wat Hy nie wil hê enigiemand moet ervaar nie. Dit is waarom God hierdie boodskap gee – om Sy mense uit die gevalle straf/wetlike Babiloniese godsdiensstelsel te roep en terug te keer na die aanbidding van Hom as Skepper!

Wat ‘n boodskap het ons tog – die pragtige waarheid van God se karakter, metodes, beginsels en ontwerpwette van liefde, waarheid en vryheid! Wanneer ons hierdie waarhede verstaan, verstaan ons dat God se toorn presies die teenoorgestelde van Satan se toorn is en dat pyn, lyding en dood nie van God af kom nie, maar van die wegbreek van die Een wat die bron van lewe en gesondheid is.

I was brought up in a different faith and have been petrified my whole life of God. I believed that I would burn in hell for eternity. When I was 12 I started pursuing the things of this world, but for the next 45 years the Spirit was always calling me, as I knew there was a God through nature. I could see the vast sea of stars in the universe and knew there was something bigger out there. Five years ago, through a Revelation seminar, I was blessed to learn about God’s character and government.

Then I found Come and Reason Ministries and have come under some extreme pressure when I speak about the ministry. One time a member sent me an internet article titled “Whats wrong with Tim Jennings?” I asked her what she thought of it and she said “I don’t know, I didn’t read it.”

I have always wanted to find out for myself the truth about God, so I stayed with the Design Law construct and have been liberated to understand the big picture. Once we consider Design Law, all other Bible stories and prophecies seem to fit perfectly. It is truly beautiful to see people grasping how God operates this Universe of Love and the liberation it has provided in their lives. It blows my mind to see how consistent Design law is with what our founders believed. I hear statements like “This makes so much sense.”

Over the past couple of years God has been expanding my view of Himself and His character. Along my approximately 40-year journey, I have often had questions, but was hesitant to voice these and step outside the traditionally accepted thinking, for fear of admitting that I may in fact be eternally lost. In the recesses of my thinking has been the thought – if one blindly accepts (which is widely regarded as “real faith”) and does not question, is this really ‘truth?’ I often find it challenging to grapple with very theological ‘speak,’ but Dr. Jennings has a real gift of explaining spiritual concepts with clear practical examples. I have been confused for years about what [christianity] calls [its] most disgusting teaching. It has never made much sense to me and for that reason has been evermore empty. I have listened to your class off and on and have struggled determining what is truth, because of the resistance design law encounters in the church. So, I thank God for your ministry.
