As of this writing, our class has been “reviled” over the last several weeks by some who have taken it upon themselves to misrepresent what we teach. This week I came across the following passage and it reminded me why we should not be discouraged,
but rejoicing.
“I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake.” 2 Cor. 12:10.
In every age God’s chosen messengers have been reviled and persecuted; yet through their affliction, the knowledge of God has been spread abroad. Every disciple of Christ is to step into the ranks, and carry forward the same work, knowing that its foes can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. God means that truth shall be brought to the front, and become the subject of examination and discussion, even through the contempt placed upon it.The minds of the people must be agitated; every controversy, every reproach, every effort to restrict liberty of conscience, is God’s means of awakening minds that otherwise might slumber. This very work of misrepresenting us is resulting in greater interest and opportunity to spread the truth about God. More people are inquiring, reading, studying, and searching for themselves. This is the work God would have us do. Because of the “agitators,” our own pastoral staff is interested in exploring and learning more about what we are teaching.
We pray that God will continue to enlighten our minds, transform our hearts and enable our speech to present the clearest revelation of Him possible! As this spiritual warfare continues we solicit your prayers for God’s agencies to continue to open doors, for the truth to go forward, for minds to be freed from distortion and misunderstanding and for the love of God to continue to spread. We also encourage each of you to “step into the ranks, and carry forward the same work” of spreading the incredible truth about God as revealed in Jesus!
