No One Escapes the War Between Good and Evil

No One Escapes the War Between Good and Evil

The Bible tells us that we are in a war (2 Corinthians 10:3–5), but this war is not like the wars fought between human nations. It is not fought with the weapons of the world, because it is not a war of physical might and power (Zechariah 4:6). It is a war for hearts and minds over two different views of God. It is a war of truth versus lies, love versus selfishness, freedom verses coercion and control. The war is over two types of government: God’s versus Satan’s. Ultimately, the war is between two antagonistic methods, systems, principles, or laws—God’s laws, which are design laws, and Satan’s laws, which are made-up rules requiring imposed punishments.

Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2 NIV84).

The law of God is the law upon which life is built. Satan’s kingdom is built upon lies, the primary one being that God’s law functions like human law (imposed rules requiring God to inflict death). When we believe this lie, it presents God as the source of death, inflicted as a punishment for sin, which breaks our trust in God and incites fear and selfishness—the survival-of-the-fittest drives—and this cascade causes pain, suffering, and death. The me-first principle, based upon fear and selfishness, is the law of sin and death, and it is rooted in believing lies that keep us from trusting God.

Prior to sin, there was no sickness, woundedness, brokenness, pain, suffering, or death. Prior to sin, there were no thorns to wound, ferocious beasts to ravage, or poisonous plants to sicken. And in the new earth, when God eradicates sin and restores this world to perfection,

The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child will put his hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea (Isaiah 11:6–9 NIV84).

And,

There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away (Revelation 21:4 NIV84).

Everything that wounds, harms, injures, and destroys does so only because sin is in the world. Even though not every wound, sickness, or injury is caused by personal acts of sin, no wounds, brokenness, or sickness would exist if sin weren’t in the world. As the Bible says,

For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time (Romans 8:20–22 NIV84).

All of nature is caught up in this war between these two opposing forces: self-sacrificing love versus fear-driven, survival-of-the-fittest selfishness; between the law of life versus the law of sin and death.

Everywhere in the world, we see these two kingdoms warring against each other—the kingdom of life battling against the kingdom of death.

Satan’s kingdom is the source of every injury, harm, wound, and death. God’s kingdom is the source of healing, comfort, recovery, and life.

The agencies of Satan fracture, wound, cause disease, and destroy. The agencies of God protect, nurture, remedy, and restore.

When you see a tree marred and sap flowing to cover the mark and heal the wound, you are seeing the war.

When a bone is broken and the body rallies its energies, producing progenitor cells to rebuild the bone, you are seeing the war.

When a surgeon puts a pin in a fractured bone, the surgeon aids the forces of God. The surgeon does not heal; rather, the surgeon places the fractured pieces of bone in their proper alignment and then the life energy from God, acting upon the laws that God coded into the genes, utilizes the nutrients placed in nature by God to build the new bone that heals the break.

When a virus infects and the immune system defends, you are seeing the war.

When doctors intervene to treat a disease, they are not implanting life; they are not infusing health; they are not instilling vitality; if their treatment leads to healing, then they have provided interventions that support the agencies that God has built into nature, which do the actual healing.

When a person suffering from pneumonia receives an antibiotic, the medicine does not bring life; rather, it interferes with the reproduction of the infecting agent, allowing the body’s immune system and restorative powers to eradicate the offending pathogens and heal the damage.

All healing interventions are simply actions that harmonize a person with God’s design, laws, and presence, either by providing the nutrition, rest, energy, air, water, sunlight, love, truth that life requires—or by removing toxins and other obstacles that interfere with God’s design for life. But the life, the health, the healing are outworkings of the presence and power of God.

It is harmony with God, harmony with His laws and principles, that brings health and happiness. We cannot have health while violating the laws of health (God’s laws)! But law-keeping will not restore us to God’s perfection and eternal life—that comes by grace through faith. Living in harmony with God’s design laws prevents us from adding more damage to our condition and puts us in harmony with God’s principles for the best possible outcome in this sinful world.

Everywhere in the world we see these two kingdoms warring against each other, the kingdom of life against the kingdom of death.

You see God’s kingdom in a comforting hug, an encouraging smile, a gentle and kind answer, and in every act of forgiveness.

You see Satan’s kingdom in every abuse, hateful slander, call for violence, and demand for vengeance.

You see God’s kingdom wherever people are respected and individual liberties are protected.

You see Satan’s kingdom wherever people are demeaned and consciences are coerced.

You see God’s kingdom wherever people pursue the truth (even when painful) as they seek to be good.

You see Satan’s kingdom wherever people avoid the truth (especially when painful) as they seek to feel good.

God’s kingdom is the kingdom of reality, fact, and what actually is.

Satan’s kingdom is the kingdom of fantasy, fiction, and self-soothing stories.

In God’s kingdom, there is clarity.

In Satan’s kingdom, there is only confusion.

Because of sin, this planet is consumed in a war between two antagonistic forces and every human being has been wounded, injured, broken in some way, meaning everyone is in need of God’s healing.

But once there is brokenness, there are no pain-free options. God’s plan is to lead people to trust Him and then follow Him through the healing process, the process of shining the light of truth deep into the soul, cutting away from the heart the attachments to this world, reorienting the mind away from fear and survival toward love for God and others. This process of accepting one’s own sinfulness, shortcomings, and defects and repenting before God and seeking real change of heart-longings is painful. In the Bible, it is described as dying to self, as going through the valley of the shadow of death. But Jesus is there with His rod and staff to comfort us and lead us down the path of righteousness to restore our soul and uplift His name so that we will live forever in His house (Psalm 23).

But Satan tricks people into accepting fantasy, self-soothing stories that deny reality, and validate lifestyles and actions of selfishness and corruption—while criticizing those who point them to Jesus as the only true Remedy.

Yet, we can never avoid the truth; we can only delay the day we deal with it. Deal with it now, under God’s grace, and have God’s law restored within you and experience redemption, recreation, restoration to righteousness, and genuine joy, peace, love, and eternal life. Or deny the truth, continue to live in the fantasy of this world’s philosophy—practicing the law of me-first, doing what feels good rather than what is good, solidifying the law of sin and death into your soul—and you will eventually experience the truth when God appears in glory and His infinite rays of truth burn deep into your soul. Your denial and self-soothing fantasies will no longer shield you from the reality of who you have chosen to become; the corruption, perversion, and evil that you have embraced will destroy you.

The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life (Galatians 6:8 NIV84).

Yes, we are in a war, a war for every heart and mind over the truth about God and His law of life versus the law of sin and death. The world is offering many enticements, many pleasing fables, myths, and self-soothing stories. But there is only one God, one truth, and one path of life—living in harmony with Jesus, the Creator God, and the laws He built reality to operate upon. The choice is yours:

Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve. … As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15 NIV84).

Testimony 64

I’ve been reading the bible and walking with Jesus since I was around 16. I’m 42 now. I’ve mostly been alone in my walk although I went to several churches in different denominations. For the past 3 years God has been showing me His character of agape. It’s been a blessing and changed how I view God and my walk with Jesus. About a year ago I came across the power of love and the principles of design law. These teachings changed how I read scripture and have been such a beautiful blessing. I’m very excited and grateful for these truths. We share these truths of agape, design law and the reality of the principles of the two trees in the garden of Eden with people on Facebook and YouTube. People all over are learning to trust God and His agape design law which makes life possible. Thank you for everything you shared with me. May God continue to bless your ministry and lives.

I have been confused for years about what [christianity] calls [its] most disgusting teaching. It has never made much sense to me and for that reason has been evermore empty. I have listened to your class off and on and have struggled determining what is truth, because of the resistance design law encounters in the church. So, I thank God for your ministry. What you teach makes sense. It’s logical and backed up by the power of love. I have never seen that in Christ until now. I am astounded by the insight that is found when we look at God’s ministry through design law. All strength to this message, as I believe it to be the power of God.

[This ministry is the] biggest blessing I have ever received! Your DVDs and lessons could not have come at a better time in my life. I have experienced in the past year many difficulties that, if it wasn’t for this wonderful view of God that I have discovered through this ministry, I would not have been able to respond in love and forgiveness. My heart is being transformed everyday by the Calvary-looking God you teach. Hallelujah!! I have tears in my eyes as I write, because my life has taken a complete turn from where I was heading.

I am from Central America. Most of my family is scattered in different parts of the world and all have the same view of God that I had growing up; a distant, exacting, and ready-to-punish-us-with-tragedy type of God. So, I have been translating lessons for my family and, to my surprise, they have also been sharing them with others! I can already see the difference. My brother has often said, “Thank you for sharing, I have never heard it this way!” My other family members are taking an amazing turn from a message of “repent or burn” towards a loving God, pleading to us that we won’t reject him because he loves us eternally.

Bless you for all you do.

After reading your book, ‘Could It Be This Simple,’ someone was explaining Christianity in a way that made sense to me for the first time in my life. One morning, I simply prayed “I’m sorry and I love you.” As soon as I silently said that, I could literally feel God’s presence and light flood down on me from above and fill me up with love and joy. I sat there crying my eyes out, because I was so overpowered with this feeling of love and joy. It was just so incredible. I hope that more people can read this book and get a blessing from it. It’s really amazing.

I can’t even begin to thank you and your ministry enough for introducing me to the Truth about a loving and merciful God! I have my daughter and her in-laws to thank for sharing with me “The God-Shaped Brain” as well as your website. I listen to the Bible study class lessons on my daily walk. May God continue to bless your thirst-quenching ministry!

Testimony 71

When I was 9 years old, I remember setting at our devotional table with a hunger and thirst for God that wanted more, deeper, BETTER. I can remember literally crying and pounding on the table, “I know these teachers didn’t mean to give us error. They taught what THEY had been TAUGHT, but didn’t ANYBODY READ THE BOOK?!?!?” It mattered to me then. It mattered to me as a teenager. It matters now as I teach bible classes. It didn’t have to be so hard as I watched so many give up and lay God’s great plan and gift of salvation aside as being “impossible.” Then, a friend sent me a link to Come And Reason’s website. I grew excited. YES! FINALLY! Then another friend told me to stay away, saying her son had just broken up with a girl because she was involved with Come And Reason and that “Tim Jennings preaches a false gospel.” But, AFTER many years of developing an authentic and, dare I say FUN relationship with Jesus, through the Holy Spirit I see this message has been around a LONG time, since the apostle Paul, Ellen White, Graham Maxwell, Ray Foucher, and yourself (though I admit, you’ve made me back up, rewind and replay the clips, and get out my well-worn Bible on a few things.) I’m so thankful I have found LIGHT during these DARK days. I am not alone.

Testimony 53

I was so blessed by a friend who gave me your book, “The God Shaped Brain,” while I was sitting in church asking God to please help me learn more about Him and help me not to be so confused and scared. That was about 2 years ago. Your books have helped me to love God even more. I’m not confused or scared anymore! I have listened to all of your bible study classes and feel like I know the wonderful people that attend every week. Thank you for all that you’re doing in spreading the true message about God and His law of love. God bless you and your whole class.

Testimony 61

I grew up in a prominent protestant church and had what I like to call religious anxiety. I’ve always had questions about God and Salvation that no one could seem to answer.  I didn’t know how to find resolution. During 2020, at the height of my anxiety, I fell to my knees and begged God to show me truth and light and to give me the hope that I’ve been longing for. Days later, I stumbled upon your online videos and it was like a veil was lifted and EVERYTHING made sense! For the first time in my almost 39 years of life, my religious/spiritual anxiety has lessened. I feel a sense of freedom and peace I’ve NEVER had before… and it’s all because my view of God has changed. Thank you!

Testimony 62

I would like to express my thanks to the C&R team for creating a platform from which people can learn to trust in God and grow. My life is a witness to the effectiveness of this ministry. Without believing the truth about God as you have shown, I don’t know what my life would be like. I had given up on God helping me with certain sins – it was all useless. Given that the scripture is clear and God is so good, how could I have betrayed him so many times? I was a yo-yo christian; spinning up and down. My faith and enthusiasm was driven by discoveries/threats that prophecy is about to be fulfilled. But when I watched your “Healing the Mind” seminar, it was like a light finally went on. I could see God had no plan to hurt me, the danger came from sin, and that He is working to protect me and strengthen me. Thank you for allowing God to use you. The message God gave C&R saved my life!

Testimony 37

Hearing Dr. Jennings’ presentations in person came at a pivotal moment in my spiritual journey that began about nine months ago, when the fault lines inherent in my belief system began to crack under questions that most reasonable people end up asking about God and His nature. These were questions I couldn’t find answers to, and they shook my faith. I was unable let it go any longer and be satisfied. My Christian experience became distant. I was afraid; the fear in me rose like thorns, pushing me away from Jesus. And then someone heard my questions and introduced me to this ministry, and my life has totally changed.

I can tell you that this new, “present truth” message is far grander and life-changing than when I shifted from being an agnostic and then a nominal Christian. It has radically altered my worldview, because it reveals a God that makes sense. It is a revolution. I believe that Dr. Jennings’ message is the final message that must go to the world. If any message could be called “righteousness by faith,” as abused as that term is by the right and the left, this is that message, because Jennings’ biblical message identifies a God who is different, whose character isn’t an impossible contradiction.

I walk this path now without fear. I see people differently, and the Holy Spirit burns in my heart. Many call Dr. Jennings’ message false and compromising, but it isn’t false, because I’ve seen the fruits within my mind and body. It is not compromising, because in this message is the only road to holiness that makes any sense. No longer do I behold a pagan god who is always angry and suspicious. Instead, I behold a God who is freeing and loving, always working for our good, and giving me every reason to love my enemy even to my own death, just as Jesus pleads with us. God is good.

We listen to your bible studies lessons in our class in Montana. You actually were the main reason I decided to get a laptop, so I can go to your site and listen, read, learn, and print the class notes. I am so grateful to learn the correct view of God and his character. Now, to just have others have an interest in knowing, so I can share it with them. Good thoughts your way.

The Healing the Mind DVD set tarted me on a journey that has changed my relationship with our loving God more significantly than any other study, and brought me to your book and Bible study podcasts, which I now listen to daily, thanks to the availability of archived content on your site and on iTunes.

Testimony 42

I am just writing to say that I have been so blessed by the teachings of Come And Reason Minitries recently. I watched last week’s bible study lesson on Youtube and am thankful that the error in the printed lesson guide you use was pointed out and this week’s study was of equal benefit, if not more so. My understanding of God’s nature has been very confused of late and I am so grateful for clarity in this matter. I have never really fully understood previously how a good God can cause bad things to happen and now I realise that He doesn’t, it’s a natural consequence of sin. May the almighty Father and His Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, continue to bless your ministry.
