Psalms ◦ Chapter 122

1I was glad when they said to me,
"Let us go to the Lord’s temple."

2And now we are here,
standing at your gates, O Jerusalem.

3Jerusalem is a city designed
as a place of unity and loving fellowship.

4This is where the people gather —
the people who love God —
to praise and celebrate the character of God
acting out his plan of healing, as given to Israel.

5There, the descendants of David
set their thrones to govern the people.

6Pray for the success of Jerusalem,
that those who love this city be healthy and happy;

7that there will be restoration to godliness within its walls —
that trust and friendship will be its fortress.

8For all my family and friends,
I say, "May complete healing and restoration occur within you."

9In harmony with the purpose of God’s temple,
I will seek your eternal welfare.
