Psalms ◦ Chapter 46

1In union with God we are safe and strong;
he is always present and ready to help when we are in trouble.

2Therefore, we won’t be afraid even if the earth’s ecosystem fails
and the mountains collapse into the sea,

3and the oceans rage with devastating storms
and the hills shake at their roaring fury.

4There is a river whose streams bring health and happiness to the city of God —
that holy place where the Most High dwells.

5God abides in that city — it will not be destroyed;
God will save her when the morning comes.

6Nations are raging and kingdoms crumble;
God’s voice thunders, and the earth melts into molten rock.

7The Creator God is with us;
the God whom Jacob trusted is our protection.

8Come and see the works of the Lord —
the demolition of all defects to his design on the earth.

9He ends all wars, division and conflict
throughout the entire earth;
he destroys guns and demolishes all weapons of war,
he burns through human defenses with the fires of love and truth.

10"Stop striving to save yourselves, and know that I am God — your Creator;
I will heal the people,
I will restore the earth."

11The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God whom Jacob trusted is our protector.
