Psalms  ◦   Chapter 28

1I call to you, my never-changing, rock-solid Lord;
don’t fail to speak to me,
for if you fail to act,
I will deteriorate and become nothing — just like those in the grave.

2Be merciful to me when you hear my voice,
when I call to you for help,
as I reach out my hands
to your holy dwelling place.

3Do not include me with the deceitful and selfish,
with those who violate your designs for life,
who speak words of love and trust
but plot evil in their hearts.

4Give them what their deeds have caused —
the fruit of their evil work;
give them what their actions have chosen —
let them reap what they have sown.

5Because they do not care to understand or value the Lord’s design
or how he runs his universe,
he will overthrow them
and not restore them.

6All praise be to the Lord,
for he has answered my call for help.

7The Lord strengthens my heart and shields my mind;
when I trust him with all my heart I receive help.
My heart overflows with joy,
I sing songs of thanks to him.

8The Lord is the strength for those who trust him,
a sanctuary of healing for all who partake of his remedy.

9Heal your people and bless those who trust you;
be their deliverer, and care for them for all eternity.
