In This Quarter...

as a people on the move, as a people seeking to reach the Promised Land, as a people called out by God, we can learn from the book of Numbers. These things happened to them as an example, and they have been written down as a warning to us, upon whom the end of the ages has come. Therefore, whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall. No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it (1 Cor. 10:11-13, NAB). These words contain not just a warning but a promise as well.

This quarter, we’ll look at the warning and at the promise.

From 1981 to 1990 the late Frank B. Holbrook was an associate director of the Biblical Research Institute at the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in Silver Spring, Maryland, U.S.A.
